2024 Referee Courses

Junior Football Match Official (Level 4 Referee)

Due to recent changes by Football Australia (FA), the Theory component of the Junior Football Match Official (Level 4) course is now solely conducted online via the FA education portal ETRAIN-U. To complete a Level 4 course, please follow the following steps:

1. If you do NOT have a current 2024 registration in NSW as a participant (Player, Coach, Referee, Club Official etc), please register in Play Football using the following link: https://registration.playfootball.com.au/common/pages/reg/WelcomeRegPlus.aspx?entityid=78140&save=0 Note: This registration is free and is solely so the ETRAIN-U system recognises you are from NSW.

2. You will then be able to use the ETRAIN-U link below to access the new learning platform approx 6 hours after the registration has been made above: https://learn.footballaustralia.com.au/training/index.cfm?event=page.login. Please ensure you log in as a ‘Football Australia Learner’. Once logged in, please click on training library on the left hand side. Then click on ‘Referee – Laws of the Game’, then click on enrol. Note, you must complete the Laws of the Game before proceeding to Step 3.

3. Upon completion of the Online Laws of the Game, you can then enrol for the Junior Football Match Official Course (Level 4). If not currently logged in, please log in as a Learner using the above link. Once logged in, you need to select the Training Event tab. Then search for Hills Football, and it should show you the dates for the events listed in the calendar. These dates refer purely to the practical component of the course. There is a $33 GST inclusive fee for this course. Once you enrol in this course, the course will appear in the My Training tab on the home page. This enables you to complete the course in your own time. Note, the online theory component of the Junior Football Match Official Course must be completed prior to attending the Practical component.

New Level 4 referees will also need to order a new uniform kit at a cost of $240, and pay a registration fee of $100 (in the new year), however all fees can be refunded should they officiate a certain number of games such as: 30 matches= course fee refunded, 40 matches= $240 uniform fee refunded, 50 matches = $100 registration fee refunded.

Instructing Referee Courses

Please see below dates for our Instructing Referee courses (U11 and below matches). Participants are required to be 12 years old. Participants interested in becoming an Instructing Referee must first make contact with their Hills Football member club to confirm there is a position available in that clubs Instructing Referee program prior to registering for a course. All Theory components of the Instructing Referee Courses will be conducted at Hills Football HQ and participants should register for a course here: https://form.jotform.com/240277028550857

Referees are required annually to register with Hills Football as a referee and are to select the relevant registration category based on age and status (ie New Junior, Returning Senior, Instructing Referee). Registrations will open in early January for the 2024 season. In 2024, the registration fee for new and returning referees is $100, however this is refundable if the referee completes 50 matches. The registration fee for Instructing Referees remains $0.
