Coaching Courses 2024

Hills Football encourages all coaches to participate in courses to ensure the players are given the best experiences possible.

Coaching courses are available throughout the year.

MiniRoos Courses – Aimed at volunteer parents and coaches working with novice players or players aged approximately up to ten (10) years old.
The session is entirely practical and encourages the coach to create games based on enjoyment. The focus is on learning by playing football. The secret to encouraging players to develop a love for the game without coaching is to organise enjoyable football activities.
The coaches’ exposure to fundamental game rules and guidance on creating an enjoyable and safe football environment.

Foundation of Football Courses – Aimed at volunteer parents and coaches working with advanced beginner to competent level players or players aged up to approximately fifteen (15) years old.
This course is a prerequisite for the C Diploma.
You will participate in practical sessions covering the basics of techniques as well as learning about basic playing principles of the game. The course is mostly practical and not graded, allowing the student to participate in the training sessions if they so choose. The course also promotes participating in group discussions with the goal of exchanging experiences.

During the year Hills Football delivers coach development events. Please see below for further details, and how you can access these coach development opportunities.

Referee Courses 2024

Please find below Hills Football current Referee Courses. Level 4 relates to referees wishing to officiate competitive football U12 and above. Instructing Referee relates to club based referees officiating non-competitive U8-11 matches.

Junior Football Match Official (Level 4 Referee)

Due to recent changes by Football Australia (FA), the Theory component of the Junior Football Match Official (Level 4) course is now solely conducted online via the FA education portal ETRAIN-U. To complete a Level 4 course, please follow the following steps:

1. If you do NOT have a current 2024 registration in NSW as a participant (Player, Coach, Referee, Club Official etc), please register in Play Football using the following link: https://registration.playfootball.com.au/common/pages/reg/WelcomeRegPlus.aspx?entityid=78140&save=0 Note: This registration is free and is solely so the ETRAIN-U system recognises you are from NSW.

2. You will then be able to use the ETRAIN-U link below to access the new learning platform 3-4 hours after the registration has been made above: https://learn.footballaustralia.com.au/training/index.cfm?event=page.login. Please ensure you log in as a ‘Football Australia Learner’. Once logged in, please click on training library on the left hand side. Then click on ‘Referee – Laws of the Game’, then click on enrol. Note, you must complete the Laws of the Game before proceeding to Step 3.

3. Upon completion of the Online Laws of the Game, you can then enrol for the Junior Football Match Official Course (Level 4). If not currently logged in, please log in as a Learner using the above link. Once logged in, you need to select the Training Event tab. Then search for Hills Football, and it should show you the dates for the events listed in the calendar. These dates refer purely to the practical component of the course. There is a $33 GST inclusive fee for this course. Once you enrol in this course, the course will appear in the My Training tab on the home page. This enables you to complete the course in your own time. Note, the online theory component of the Junior Football Match Official Course must be completed prior to attending the Practical component.

Instructing Referee Courses

Please see below dates for our Instructing Referee courses (U11 and below matches). Participants are required to be 12 years old. Participants interested in becoming an Instructing Referee must first make contact with their Hills Football member club to confirm there is a position available in that clubs Instructing Referee program prior to registering for a course. All Instructing Referee Courses will be conducted at Hills Football HQ and participants should register for a course here: https://form.jotform.com/240277028550857

Hills Football Development is the combination of all Development Programs run by Hills Football and Hills United Football Club. Working together, HF Development looks to provide all children in the Hills District with a high-quality footballing experience at an affordable price.

Football Development Programs by HF Development cater to all Grassroots Footballers within Hills Football. All participants are provided a platform to learn new skills and techniques in a fun, inclusive, and safe environment.
