Premier Youth League Finalists Look Inseparable on Paper
The race for a top four finish in the Premier Youth League was excitingly tight all year round, with any of the top five teams having the ability to beat each other on any given day. It was no surprise then to see Baulkham Hills earn a spot in the final after finishing third. The Kookaburra’s toppled 4th place North Rocks in their elimination final, prior to upsetting minor premiers Norwest to give themselves a shot at the title.
They’ll meet Castle Hill United Red who also managed to better the minor premiers to book themselves a spot in the final; and a week off at that. The two finalists were inseparable during the season proper, with both finishing on 38 points and a goal difference of 3 dictating their 2nd and 3rd placed finishes.
Such was their match up in ability when the sides fought out a 0-0 stalemate in round 6 at Baulkham Hills. However Baulkham Hills managed to net two later in the year, while still maintaining a clean sheet to take home the chocolates. Baulkham Hills will be buoyed by the fact United haven’t been able to hit the back of net against their stellar defence. However, a week’s rest after knocking off the league leaders 2-0 will hold United in good stead for what should be a very tight affair. This one is impossible to split.
