What a start to the season it has been for Norwest Football club as they aspire to grow their grassroots space with offerings aimed at bettering the football experience.
On Wednesday the 8th of May Norwest Football Club hosted their very first Aldi MiniRoos Grassroots Coaching Course. The course saw coaches from the club attend the night which was delivered by Hills Footballs, Football Development Manager Zac Ribeiro along with newly appointed Club Coach Adrian Jennings.
Adrian Commented “It was a fantastic night for the club with a great turn out, I could see that our coaches were taking a lot from the course. Hopefully this will help our coaches start changing the way they deliver their sessions. We look forward to hosting more coaching course in the future at the club with Hills Football.
No less than 15 of the club’s members successfully completed their Grassroots Coaching Certificate which the club was extremely pleased with.
But it just doesn’t stop there, Club Coach Adrian has been working with the club to offer more playing opportunities outside normal community football for members of Norwest FC. In 2019 the club has launched their Skills Revolution Program which has hit the ground running.
The idea of this initiative was focused around player development for players in the club who have the willingness and desire to better their skills and playing abilities which they can attend directly at their club. The Norwest Skills Revolution Program includes;
Norwest Junior Skills Clinic
Offered to all Junior players at the club now have the opportunity for an extra night on the ball learning skills and drills which focus on the individual player and their development. The players are spit into training times based on age groups, training and playing with players outside of their teams which has started to build a culture amongst club players.
Cougar-Cubs Program
The Cougar Cubs toddler program is for players aged 3-5 years of age. The program is taught in a fun, safe and inclusive environment attracting new players to the club. With 25 players already signed up to the program the club is confident this program will build their junior base over a period of time.
Junior Goal Keeper Program
Goal Keepers can sometimes be left out or not considered at community level, the club now offers a Goal Keeper training night for all junior goal keepers to attend. Here they receive Goal Keeper specific exercises to give players that extra confidence in goals for their weekend games.
Well done to all the volunteers, coaches and club members from Norwest involved to get this started. We look forward to seeing what’s next for the club in the future.
