There has been a lot of rumour and innuendo regarding the men’s over 35s competitions for season 2018.
Here’s the facts:
Late last year, Hills Football conducted a series of Sub Committee Meetings in regards to playing Senior football matches outside of the traditional Saturday Afternoon. The main reason for this was the lack of available fields as well as an appetite for a Friday Night Men’s over 35s competition by many.
In season 2018, there will be a standalone Friday Night men’s over 35s Division, as well as the normal Saturday Men’s over 35 Divisions*
Here’s how it will work:
Saturday Men’s 35s
Remain UNCHANGED. Depending on the number of registrations, there will be 4 men’s divisions from 1 through to 4. Only those teams registered in the Saturday Men’s 35 competitions will be eligible for Hills Footballs Champion of Champions place.
Friday Night Men’s 35s
The Friday Night Men’s competition will be an additional competition to the tradition Saturdays. There is NO obligation for you to join this competition. It is YOUR choice to do so.
Hills Football acknowledges the potential that there might be a disparity in the ability of each team nominated for the Friday Night competitions. To combat this and depending on final numbers, the Friday night competitions may be split into appropriate smaller divisions.
Any team playing in the Friday Night Men’s 35s divisions are NOT eligible to be selected for the champion of Champions position.
When you are registering with your team or club, please discuss with your club committee to nominate your team into the Fridays Night Men’s 35s division should you want to join it.
*a standalone Friday Night Men’s division will only go ahead if the required amount of teams nominate. Should there not be the required amount of teams, all teams aged 18 and over will be rotated evenly through Friday Nights.
