In what has been our highest recorded year, hitting over 13,000 players in the winter 2023 season, we wanted to reflect on not only a successful year, but also thank all members for their contribution to the growth and development of football in the Hills.
Summer Football numbers were also at an all-time high as the demand for football for 12 months of the year (almost) is becoming more of a reality. HFI saw 1,000 more players participate in our Summer Football competition, capping numbers a week or 2 after opening registrations.
As we reflect on this monumental year, we are thrilled to see some new initiatives and competitions being launched in the 2024 season. 2024 will see the inclusion of an O45 Women’s and O55 Men’s competition for the first time, and to highlight the growth of female football following the impacts of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, HFI has introduced an U8 Female Only MiniRoos competition.
To further support those MiniRoos coaches (both for mixed and female-only competitions) HFI will also run a webinar style information session to assist coaches on the rules and requirements related to the different playing formats.
In addition, the joint Women’s Premier League will see additional teams added to the competition for the 2024 season. 2023 was the inaugural year of the joint venture with BDSFA and GDSFA and we hope to continue its success into 2024.
