Coaching Courses 2024
Hills Football encourages all coaches to participate in courses to ensure the players are given the best experiences possible.
Coaching courses are available throughout the year.
MiniRoos Courses – Aimed at volunteer parents and coaches working with novice players or players aged approximately up to ten (10) years old.
The session is entirely practical and encourages the coach to create games based on enjoyment. The focus is on learning by playing football. The secret to encouraging players to develop a love for the game without coaching is to organise enjoyable football activities.
The coaches’ exposure to fundamental game rules and guidance on creating an enjoyable and safe football environment.
Foundation of Football Courses – Aimed at volunteer parents and coaches working with advanced beginner to competent level players or players aged up to approximately fifteen (15) years old.
This course is a prerequisite for the C Diploma.
You will participate in practical sessions covering the basics of techniques as well as learning about basic playing principles of the game. The course is mostly practical and not graded, allowing the student to participate in the training sessions if they so choose. The course also promotes participating in group discussions with the goal of exchanging experiences.

Instructing Referee Courses (11+)
Instructing Referees officiate matches in the Non-Competitive U6-11 competitions and this is often a persons first exposure to refereeing. Instructing Referees are managed directly by each HFI Member club, and typically will only officiate at the field/s of their associated HFI Member club. As such, it is vital that prior to attending an Instructing Referee course, prospective participants make contact with their HFI Member club’s Referee Coordinator to ensure that there is an available spot for them within their Instructing Referee program. A step by step guide on how to become an Instructing Referee with a HFI Member club is below.
1. Make contact with your HFI Member Club’s Referee Coordinator (CRC) to confirm a spot in their Instructing Referee Program. This can usually be achieved by finding the CRC’s contact details on the clubs website, or by contacting the Club Secretary.
2. Once a spot has been confirmed in your HFI Member Club’s Instructing Referee program, you can register for one of the Instructing Referee Theory courses presented by Hills Football using the following registration link: https://form.jotform.com/240277028550857 – A list of the available theory courses can be found below:
