Many people have asked where the full seasons draw is and why is hasn’t been published yet.
Whilst we completely understand that players and families need the draw in order to plan ahead, we are unfortunately not in a position to schedule a draw for the entire season. Here’s why:
- Hill Football completes a round 4 regrade to ensure competitions are as even as possible. After the regrade, we have to start the draw from scratch.
- Ground availability & club capacity.
- Hills Football has the second highest player to pitch population of any Football Association in the state and many of our clubs are at or near complete capacity. In December 2018, the Hills Football clubs voted to continue to play (Men’s and Mixed) football on traditional Saturday time slots with a “Home & Away” Season. Meaning each team should get an equal amount of home and an equal amount of away games. Therefore, our team has to manually schedule each and every game each week to ensure we can cater to this request as best we possible can. We have over 350 matches each week!
- Field status and availability.
- The fields in The Hills are not the best, we all know that. We have to plan our matches to ensure that the pitches are not being played to a point of ruin.
- We are at the mercy of councils and private owners of the fields as to when we are allowed to play on their grounds. We have learnt in the past that fields can be taken offline at any given time. This causes havoc with our draws.
- Unique Female Competitions.
- This year, the under 15G and Youth Girls Competitions are being conducted under unique circumstances whereby the competitions will be split into two sub divisions after the first full round. This means we cannot complete full female draws until after these regrades are complete.
What we can commit to though, is providing the draw 4 weeks in advance at all times (after the round 4 regrade). Meaning, in round 6, the draw will be published until round 10. In round 12 the draw will be published until round 16 etc.
We wish all teams luck and have an amazing year!
