On Saturday the 23rd of March Winston Hills Bears Football Club hosted their very first ALDI MiniRoos Grassroots Coaching Course at Gooden Drive Reserve.
The morning saw 31 participants from the club take the field for a practical session where candidates interacted with each other to learn how to develop practices that are based on FUN whilst keeping players engaged.
Hills Footballs Development Manager Zac Ribeiro who delivered the course commented.
“It was great to see so many participants from the club on the course, with a total of 31 participants this course has been recorded as Hills Footballs Largest Grassroots Certificate across the association for 2019”.
Zac also commented “This is the most important age for football training, if we can deliver a quality experience for players at this age we will continue to retain these players and create lifetime members helping players build a love for football”.
The coaches then became the focus of the morning presenting sessions and gaining feedback on how learning takes place and the coaches role in the process of running a session.
This included highlighting which part of the session coaches were running whether it be a Beginning, Middle or End activity, whilst ensuring demonstrations were made by the coach. Zac mentions “your practice should be SAFE, ORGANISED, ENJOYABLE & ENGAGING”.
Club Coach Carlos Brito and Bear Cubs Coordinator Deck
The pair also took the candidates through the game day structure the club rolls out each Saturday for the season along with discussing the playing formats and rules that coaches will need to know.
Carlos said “The feedback has been nothing but excellent, the club hopes all coaches are now confident to deliver practices and understand the clubs Bear Cubs program set up for the season”.
Hills Football would like to thank Winston Hills Bears Football Club for hosting the course and look forward to many more with the club.
