Hills Football is pleased to announce the NSW Governments 2022 Community Building Partnership Program has just approved 13 fully monitored publicly accessible defibrillator packages that will be installed at various football grounds within our association boundaries. These lifesaving defibrillator packages will be installed and operated by Staying Alive Health, a company committed to addressing the urgent need for increased public accessibility and awareness of AEDs, but more importantly, addressing the lack of monitoring, for these live-saving devices in Australia.
Brooke Collins OAM, CEO and founder of Staying Alive Health explains. “As an ex-Councillor with The Hills Shire Council and ex-President of one of NSW’s largest little athletics clubs, I have first-hand experience in the importance of having publicly accessible and monitored AEDs 24/7 after an incident at our ground 18 months ago”.
“Our club discovered the two defibrillators we did have, were locked away and not accessible, and that both units were inoperative due to flat batteries”.
“It’s then, I realised we needed to find a solution that made defibrillators publicly accessible and fully monitored, to address many of these issues, that also included a high number of defibrillators being misplaced prior to an emergency and defibrillators that were not rescue ready due to flat batteries”.
Staying Alive Health’s solution uses cellular technology to remotely monitor this life-saving system. Operational status is continuously checked and ensured, with any maintenance needs being automatically transmitted to those who need to know.
“With these monitoring capabilities, we can ensure that AEDs are always ready to rescue and accessible for any ground, its surroundings and the wider community”, Brooke Collins concludes.
