Smoke-Free Sporting Venues Reminder

At Hills Football, we are committed to providing a safe, healthy and welcoming environment for everyone who attends our matches and training sessions. With thousands of players, volunteers, officials and spectators enjoying football each week, we ask all members of our community to respect the smoke-free laws that apply at our sporting venues.

Under the Smoke-free Environment Act 2000 (NSW), Section 6A, spectator areas at public sports grounds and recreational areas are designated as smoke-free during organised sporting events. This applies to all spectator areas, whether covered or uncovered, and includes organised matches, training sessions and other official football activities. The legislation also extends to the use of e-cigarettes and vaping products.

The Act exists to protect the health of everyone attending community sport, particularly children, young people and those with respiratory conditions who can be affected by exposure to second-hand smoke. Even outdoors, second-hand smoke can impact those nearby and undermines the healthy, family-friendly environment that community football strives to provide.

We respectfully ask all players, coaches, team officials, volunteers and spectators to comply with the legislation by refraining from smoking or vaping in spectator areas and around our football activities. By showing consideration for others, we help create an environment where everyone can enjoy the game without unnecessary health risks or discomfort.

Thank you for helping Hills Football promote a healthier, safer and more inclusive football community for all.
