Referee Pre-Season Seminar

On Sunday 9th March, 200 of Hills Football Referees attended the annual pre season seminar held at Castle Hill RSL. Lead by the HFI Referee Subcommittee, our referees reviewed changes to the Laws of the Game, HFI By-Laws and internal administrative procedures as part of seminar, with our large group of first year referees and their parents having an in depth session looking at what to expect as a referee with Hills Football ahead of their first season. We also recognised a number of referees for providing 5 years service to Hills Football with a small award presentation.

We were also fortunate to have the pleasure of having 2 guest presenters from the A-Leagues match officials panel, Nathan and Delfina Shakespear join us all the way from Canberra to contribute to our presentations. Both Nathan and Delfina spoke about their career journey, some interesting facts about themselves and what it is like to be elite match officials and being married. Nathan presented changes to the Laws of the Game around Handball, whilst Delfina delivered a session with our female referees.

With the season quickly approaching, it is still not too late to become a referee with Hills Football this season. Information on how to become a referee along with our upcoming Level 4 courses can be found here: https://hillsfootball.com.au/referee-courses/ If you require additional information or assistance in becoming a referee, please contact chris.codling@hillsfootball.com.au
