NORWEST FC HOST RECORD-BREAKING COACHING COURSE

Across the months of July and August Hills Football has been on the ground delivering community coaching courses for members of Hills Football and the wider football network.

The Skill Training Certificate went live on Wednesday evening the 24th of July, this course is spread across three training nights and will conclude on Wednesday the 7th of August.

The course was hosted by Norwest FC at their home ground Francesco Reserve, this course, in particular, saw 26 participants join the course which has been the most number of coaches on one course this year for Hills Football.

Football Development Manager Zac Ribeiro who delivered the course commented “I was taken back by the number of participants on the course which shows me that there are plenty of coaches in our association who want to better themselves and their delivery of football sessions for their players. From the start of the course, there was a great sense of connection from all the coaches who were invested in growing their coaching capabilities which set a great standard”.

The Skill Training certificate is a course designed for coaches to understand how to implement training sessions for players aged 9-13 based on the four core skills which are First Touch, Striking the Ball, Running with the Ball and 1 v 1. Each night participants are placed into working groups and asked to construct sessions based on one of the core skills. Each group has the opportunity to present their session to the group and are given feedback based on if their session was SAFE, ORGANISED, ENJOYABLE and ENGAGING.

Night one of the course was a special night as Hills Football also held Workshop two of the Club Coach Coordinator Program. Here CCC’s from around the association attending the course to support the night but also to interact with the coaches on the course to build their communication skills when dealing with coaches back at their individual clubs. The CCC’s were placed into groups and asked to help participants on the course with their delivery and session plan. This interaction brought the CCC program to life with real coaches.

Norwest FC’s Club Coach Coordinator Adrian Jennings has been taking sections throughout the course as he is being mentored by Ribeiro to become a community coach presenter. AJ mentioned “I love educating other coaches, as well as youth development and this course along with the grassroots course held early in the year, has been a really excellent learning environment for me. I can see that coaches on the course are getting a lot of engagement from the sessions, we thank Hills Football, in particular, Zac for the course which will result in better-educated coaches at our club to better equip our coaches to help our juniors learn”

The CCC Program highlights the importance of ongoing development and support our coaches need at the club.

Well done to Norwest Football Club for hosting a great course, and promoting their coaches to attend.

Also a special thanks to the Club Coach Coordinators who came down to support the night.
