Hills United FC: Developing the Next Generation of Footballers

Providing young footballers with programs and pathways to learn, develop, and hone their craft is crucial to the continued existence of clubs and to building the next generation of Socceroos and Matildas.

The Football NSW Junior Development Leagues aim to improve players through a cohesive and balanced approach statewide. Ensuring that the program evolves towards a stronger focus on club capability building, the sharing of best-practice program elements, and the accountability of Clubs and Football NSW to each other.

Hills United FC offers players from the Hills Football member clubs the chance to participate in this program and further develop the four core skills outlined in the Football Australia National Curriculum. 1 v 1 attacking and defending, first touch, running with the ball and passing / striking the ball.

“Hills United FC is the representative club for the Hills District, providing opportunities for local players to develop and test themselves against the best players in NSW,” Hills Football Association Head of Football Jason Eagar said.

18 of the 20 member clubs have participants in the Hills United JDL and GJDL with each squad compromising of up to 24 players in the U9 to U12 age groups and Girls JDL squads compromising of up to 14 players in the U10 to U13 age groups.

Larger and more established member clubs including the Kellyville Kolts (22%), Winston Hills (14%), Rouse Hill Rams (13%) and Castle Hill (12%) contributed the greatest number of players in the Hills United FC JDL/GJDL programs this season.

Whilst smaller clubs including Box Hill Rangers, Hills Pumas and Hills Grammar also have representation within the JDL system illustrating the tireless work being conducted by every club across the association.

“Hills member clubs play a critical role in the pathway by initially providing players with an environment to build a passion for football, with talented players identified through Hills member clubs to represent Hills United in the JDL and Girls JDL programs,” Eagar said.

“Hills United is built on the strength of the Hills football community.”
