Football4All: Hills Football All Abilities Programs

The Hills Football All Abilities programs are a crucial part of the footballing community across the region. The program provides the opportunity for everyone to get involved and play football weekly.

The non-competitive program runs every Saturday morning across various grounds with the hope of sharing social experiences and ultimately building confidence.

“Designed for participants aged 5 to 21 years, the program creates an inclusive, welcoming and supportive environment where everyone can enjoy being part of a team, develop new skills, and build lasting friendships,” All-Abilities Coordinator at Castle Hill United, Jenny Crandell, said.

“Every Saturday morning, players come together to learn football skills, play games and celebrate achievements under the guidance of dedicated coaches and volunteers.”

“The program focuses on participation, enjoyment, and personal development rather than competition.”

Five member clubs host the All-Abilities program, including Castle Hill United, Hills Knights, Kellyville Kolts, Rouse Hill Rams and Winston Hills. The program has seen significant growth in participation and interest and is hoping to continue this trajectory with more clubs coming on board.

“While all of these programs share the common goal of making football more inclusive and accessible, each one is unique in the participants it serves and the way it delivers that experience,” Hills Football Competitions and Operations Coordinator Paul Carollo said

The All-Abilities program is not just limited to those interested in playing the game, but also to those who want to coach as well. A modified coaching program is open to every All-Abilities player who wants the opportunity to learn how to coach or game lead and develop leadership skills whilst being in a supportive, non-threatening and fun environment.

“Football is about more than goals and results. It is about building confidence, creating friendships, developing life skills, and ensuring everyone has the chance to be part of a community,” Crandell said.

The program resides in the wider Football NSW initiative for further inclusion within the game, with the governing body hosting Football4All Gala Days throughout the season to celebrate and bring together all these programs in a festive-like event.

“Each year, our team looks forward to participating in Football Gala Day. It’s an event that provides far more than just an opportunity to play sports. It is a day filled with excitement, achievement, inclusion, and friendship,” Madison Iredale from the Kellyville Kolts said.

“Taking part in the Football4all Gala Day helps our players develop confidence, teamwork, communication, and social skills in a supportive and positive environment.”

“The experience of representing their club, wearing their team colours, and competing alongside their peers gives them a tremendous sense of pride and accomplishment.”

“The smiles, enthusiasm, and sense of belonging seen throughout the day demonstrate just how meaningful and important this opportunity is for them,” Iredale added.
