Association Youth League Players Tackle Grassroots Coaching

On Wednesday the 5th of February Hills Football’s very own Association Youth League (AYL) players from the under 15’s & 16’s took a different approach to their usual training sessions.

A combined 32 players from across both teams ventured over to Bella Vista Oval, where they were meet by Hills Football Technical Director Dan Sheppard along with Football Development Managers Zac Ribeiro and Aroon Clansey.

Here the Football Department carried out the Community MiniRoos Coaching Certificate for coaches working with players aged 5-8. The AYL players were the immediate focus as they built teams and came up with sessions that are Safe, Organised, Enjoyable and Engaging. Our community coaching courses are all practical based and engaging. The players were then put into groups and asked to develop and deliver sessions gaining confidence and coaching skills each time with an emphasis on the SO.CHANGE.IT coaching tool.

Football Development Manager Zac Ribeiro mentioned “it’s quite unique as these players all have something in common and that’s the love for the game, coaching is not easy and the players all agreed with this very quickly. However, it was fantastic to see players connect with each other to do something that was well out of their comfort zone”

Apart of the Hills Football Pathways Program, we aim to create unique environments for every aspiring footballer independent of ability, socio-economic, culture and status to reach their potential and build the best version of themselves, through a foundation in life skills, education and football-centric programs.

We now have 32 young, passionate and enthusiastic qualified Grassroots coaches apart of our association that we can look to include and support the delivery of our community wide programs.

Hills Football would like to congratulate all players who participated on the course as we wish them the best of luck with their upcoming 2020 football season. GO HILLS!
