Baulkham Hills PL eliminated Castle Hill United PYL from the Hills Cup with a 6-1 win at Fred Caterson Reserve on Wednesday.
United were wanting to create an upset, after a win on Saturday in the Premier Youth League put them up to second position on the ladder.
The travelling Baulkham Hills side also recorded a victory in their Saturday fixture and sit fifth on the PL ladder.
After a gritty start, it was Baulkham Hills who took the lead in the 19th minute, after a quick counter attack run by Zac Aspinal saw him one-on-one with the goalkeeper.
His shot was initially saved very well by the United keeper only for Aspinal to score on the follow-up.
The goal then opened the game up and just seconds later, United had a chance to score as Baulkham Hills cleared a chance off the line.
However, another quick counter attack from the away side was rewarded.
In the 24th minute, Baulkham Hills went from one side of the field to the other and Young Min Kim hit his shot outside the box to make it 0-2.
United continued to threaten the Premier League side down the right flank, causing trouble however to no avail, as the scores remained unchanged heading into the sheds.
Baulkham Hills came out the stronger side as just seven minutes into the half, their lead was extended further.
A dangerous corner set piece was whipped into the United six yard box for Dylan Mares to get on the score sheet.
The chances kept coming as Mares again was causing trouble for United’s defence, with a one-on-one chance saved and an attempted chip over the goalkeeper outside the box going just wide.
The lead was extended on the 66th minute as a nice one-two passage of play inside Castle Hill’s 18 yard box saw Connor Mephie score his first goal of the game with Mares collecting an assist.
In the 68th minute, Baulkham Hills got their fifth goal of the match as Daniel Green ran down the left flank and finished perfectly.
Despite the scoreline, United did press late and were rewarded for their efforts with a wonderful goal, as a counter attack found Ben Capriarti who hit his shot first time outside the box to restore some pride.
But nonetheless, the traveling side showed their experience as Mo Mohamadi bagged the final goal of the match, Baulkham Hills’ sixth, to eliminate PYL Castle Hill United from the Hills Cup.
On Saturday, PYL Castle Hill play away to Kellyville Kolts, while Baulkham Hills have a rest before travelling to Lithgow for their State Cup clash.
