Kenthurst FC showed why they are top of the Hills Premier League ladder with a dominant 7-0 victory over All Age 8’s Castle Hill United in the Hills Cup at Kenthurst Park.
Coming off an impressive 8-0 away victory to Rouse Hill Rams four days ago, Kenthurst were looking to continue building confidence within the squad.
United came off a 5-1 away loss to North Rocks, however notched up a 5-4 away victory last cup match to undefeated Youth League 3’s Baulkham Hills.
The away side knew it was going to be a tough ask to go toe-to-toe with last season’s Premier League runners up.
It took 42 seconds for Kenthurst to strike first blood.
A wonderful passage of possession down the left flank drew a save from the United keeper, only for Alexander Steinkamp to score on the follow up.
Just eight minutes later, Steinkamp turned from scorer to provider as he swerved a cross into the six yard box to find an unmarked Kurtis White, who took a touch on his left foot and scored.
On the 14th minute mark, Kenthurst got their third when Andy Luttringer capitalised on a defensive error to make it 3-0.
An onslaught of chances kept coming for Kenthurst, who hit the woodwork twice in the space of five minutes.
Kenthurst got their fourth goal in the 33rd minute after Jason Goodlace hit a first time rocket outside the box into the top right corner of the goal.
To cap off the half, Stuart Page’s audacious effort was rewarded, successfully lobbing the Castle Hill goalkeeper from 35 yards out.
Down 5-0 at half-time, many sides would get frustrated, however United made it difficult for Kenthurst to score in the second term.
It took until the 67th minute for the second half goal drought to be broken, after Lachlan Fox broke away with a change of pace and slotted his shot past United’s goalkeeper.
Kenthurst’s final goal of the match came in the 72nd minute when a set piece found an unmarked Andrew Zammit, whose shot was too powerful for the keeper to stop, capping off a commanding performance.
Despite the scoreline, Castle Hill United manager Nishal, used the result as a learning curve for his side.
“This was mainly for experience,”
said Nishal.
“The players wanted to get a good experience, they picked up
a lot of good things,”
“We are going to take it to our Saturdays and use a lot from this.”
Kenthurst manager, Brendon Renaud was pleased with the result and respected Castle Hill United’s effort.
“We did win, but what was more important was that they kept trying to play,” said Renaud.
“They didn’t just bang the ball
around,”
“I was happy with our boys, they moved the ball well, we can
always work on more things but it was good.”
On Saturday, Kenthurst travel to Glenhaven, while Castle Hill United host Kellyville United.
