As the 2026 season comes to a close, we reflect on what has been a successful, enjoyable and rewarding year for the Hills Development Squads program.
Throughout the season, players from Hills Football clubs came together to take part in a specialised development program, providing boys aged 6–16 and girls aged 8–13 with opportunities to develop their football skills, build confidence and challenge themselves in a positive and supportive environment.
The program delivered 25 weeks of specialised training, giving players the opportunity to work on their technical skills, game understanding and overall development under the guidance of our dedicated coaching team.
Importantly, the Development Squads program was about more than just training. Players gained valuable match experience against other Associations, as well as opportunities to test themselves against Hills United Football Club. The squads also experienced tournament football through participation in the Bathurst Cup Tournament and the Football NSW Association Championships, providing players with valuable experiences both on and off the field.
The success of the program would not be possible without the commitment of everyone involved.
A huge thank you to all of our players, parents and coaches for your hard work, dedication and support throughout the 2026 season. Your commitment week after week is what makes the Hills Development Program such a great experience for our players.
We would also like to acknowledge Nick FitzGerald, Head of Program, for his leadership and dedication throughout the season, helping provide our players with a quality development environment and ensuring the program continued to grow.
Whether players were stepping onto the field for the first time in a development environment or continuing their journey through the program, the 2026 season provided opportunities to learn, compete, make new friends and, most importantly, enjoy their football.
