Winter School Holidays Sorted with Hills Football Development

The winter school holidays are just over two weeks away, and the Hills Football Association are offering a wide variety of holiday clinics and tournaments for different ages, player positions and skill levels so that kids can remain active, improve their skills and have fun these school holidays.

There are five different clinics on offer for players these school holidays, including a female-only clinic, skills clinic, goalkeeper clinic, little legends clinic and a tournament clinic. Ranging from ages three to thirteen years old, there is something for every player during these school holidays.

“Each Clinic Format is centered around the player having fun in an engaging environment, that drives participation, development and a healthy dose of competition,” Hills Football Development Co-Ordinator Jaimee Turner said.

The most interactive and engaging clinic is the tournament clinic, where players, friends or siblings can come together and compete in a gala-day style and participate in a fun and competitive environment. Designed in a 5v5 format including goalkeepers, the day will consist of group games before moving into semifinals and finals at the day’s end. The clinic offers teams for U9’s & U10’s + U11’s & U12’s boys and U7’s & U8’s Female Only Teams, and is great for teammates, friend groups or summer soccer teams looking for practice.

The female-only clinic provides female footballers from U7’s to U13’s to learn, train and play in a female-only environment that aims to support cohesion, education and support for every player. Taking place at the Bella Vista Public School on Wednesday, the 15th of July, the all-day clinic will focus on improving skills whilst incorporating fun activities and games that every player can participate in and feel welcomed in.

“Off the back of Female Football Week a few weeks ago, we’re proud to continue providing opportunities for Female Footballers in the Hills,” Turner said.

The largest and most popular clinic on offer is the skills clinic. On offer for both boys and girls from U6’s to U13’s, the skills clinic is offered both weeks of the school holidays, with the clinic allowing the players to choose whether to attend one or two days’ worth of skill training. The clinic will be focusing on improving players’ core skills, including first touch, striking the ball, running with the ball, & 1v1’s. These skills will be worked upon and tested using challenges, small-sided gameplay and a range of drills and activities.

The most affordable clinic during these school holidays is for the youngest members of the Hills Football family in the Little Legends clinic. Continuing from the weekly Little Legends program, this one-off program is on offer for three to five years and is set as an early introduction to football and early movement skills.

“It’s perfect for skills clinics participants with younger siblings, parents looking to get their child involved in sport, or existing Little Legends who want to continue practicing in the holiday period,” Turner said.

The goalkeeper clinic ensures that every player can improve their skills over the holidays, including keepers who often cannot get specific skills training in their weekly club teams. It is a shorter-format clinic dedicated to goalkeepers, providing the opportunity to develop keeper-specific skills and abilities in small-group settings. There are two opportunities for goalkeepers to improve their skills, both on the morning of the 13th and 14th of July.
