Hills Football Pauses To Recognise and Honour ANZAC Day

As we come together this weekend, we pause to recognise and honour ANZAC Day, a time of deep significance for all Australians and New Zealanders.

ANZAC Day is an opportunity to reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and service of the men and women who have defended our nation, beginning with the soldiers who landed at Gallipoli in 1915 and continuing through all conflicts, peacekeeping missions, and service roles to this day. It is a moment to remember those who gave their lives, those who returned, and those who continue to serve with dedication and pride.

At Hills Football, the values we see commemorated on ANZAC Day, including mateship, resilience, courage, and selflessness, are the same values that underpin our community. Football brings people together from all walks of life, building connections, supporting one another, and working toward a common goal. Whether it’s teammates lifting each other after a tough game, volunteers giving their time, or families supporting from the sidelines, these everyday acts reflect the spirit that ANZAC Day represents.

We also acknowledge the broader impact of service on families and communities. Behind every individual who serves is a network of support, sacrifice, and strength. Their contribution is something we recognise with gratitude and respect.

As an association, we encourage everyone to take a moment this ANZAC Day to attend a local service, observe a minute of silence, or simply reflect in your own way. It is through these acts of remembrance that we ensure the legacy of those who served continues to live on.

Thank you to all members of the Hills Football community for the role you play in fostering a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment each week. We are proud of the spirit shown across the association, both on and off the field.

Lest we forget.
