Over the past week, Football Australia hosted their National Youth Championships at the Home of the Matildas in Melbourne, Victoria!
Leading HFI Referee and Female Referee Development Officer Alana Zic was one of seven NSW referees selected to attend the tournament, which was her third appearance at the tournament. Going into the week as one of the most experienced match officials in attendance, Alana was in good spirits and was hoping for a positive tournament.
Alana officiated 1-2 matches a day as both a Referee and an Assistant Referee, receiving expert coaching from FA Referee Coaches on every match including several FIFA and A-Leagues referees.
Alana’s performances across the week culminated in her appointment as the Referee for the U16 Grand Final where she saved her best performance till last, facilitating a very entertaining game of football.
Following the match, Alana was also announced as the Referee of the Tournament for the U16 section.
HFI Referee Administration Officer Chris Codling had this to say about Alana’s achievements “We are extremely proud to see Alana attend her third NYC this year, and to perform at an extremely high level to achieve appointment to the U16 Grand Final as the Referee, and to be awarded the U16 Referee of the Tournament is a real testament to the hard work Alana puts into her development as a Referee. Alana is a fantastic role model to our female referees and despite her significant progression along the referee pathway, she is always looking to give back to Hills Football”
Hills Football would like to congratulate Alana on such a fantastic achievement and look forward to seeing her back refereeing on the HFI Premier Leagues very soon.
