Despite the poor weather conditions, the inaugural Hills Football Grassroots Coaching Expo launched over the weekend. The event was to provide current or interested local coaches with a foundation prior to the commencement of the winter football season. With the assistance of Deploy Football, Football NSW and Hills United FC, Hills Football was able to deliver 7 different training sessions simultaneously, all of which catered to a different coaching element. This provided the observing coaches with the opportunity to gain insight into the topics and sessions that best suited their needs.
Coaches are now able to take these observations and learnings into their team training sessions and apply them in a more experienced and confident manner. During the event, Hills Football delivered the following training sessions for observation:
- MiniRoos: Working on their first touch – players provided by Castle Hill United FC
- Skill Training: Working on running with the ball – female players provided by Baulkham Hills FC
- Skill Training: Working on passing – players provided by Baulkham Hills FC and Rouse Hill Rams FC
- Game Training: Working on defending collectively – players provided by North Rocks FC
- Football Conditioning/Heading Pro: Working on football related activities, and safe and correct heading – players provided by Rangers AFC and Kellyville United FC
- Goalkeeping: Working on GK fundamentals – players provided by North Rocks FC and Winston Hills FC
Below you can find the event program which includes all sessions covered on the day:
In addition to the on-field coaching aspect of the Expo, some key information stalls were available which included the Australian College of Physical Education (ACPE), Deploy Football/Heading Pro, and Markka Football. This provided coaches with the opportunity to test out and purchase new equipment and gain new information and education. We thank all of our partners for their attendance and involvement on the day.
At the conclusion of the sessions, coaches regrouped for a Q & A with Dan Sheppard (Hills Football – Head of Football/Technical Director), Alex Tobin (Hills United FC -Technical Director) and Andrew Head (Deploy Football/Heading Pro – Founder) to cover a number of topics and questions from those in attendance.
All registered coaches who attended the Expo were entered into a prize draw which was drawn post event. Hills Football congratulate the following prize winners:
